He was a member of Union City Second Baptist Church. Army National Guard member for 31 years, earning the rank of sergeant. He married the former Sherry Myers July 30, 1977. He was born May 14, 1957, in Cook County, Ill., son of Venita (Wallace) Drenning of Union City and the late Ronald Guy Shanklin. The family requests that memorials be made to the preschool department at Union City Second Baptist Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation at Multiple Sclerosis Foundation National Headquarters, Donations, 6520 North Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-2130.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allan Herchenhahn, Kenny Crews, Phillip Puckett, Gavin Pledge and his nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tim Walker, Darrell Poynter, Fred Wilkes, Scottie Hayes, Scottie Lee Hayes, Todd Barber, Jackie Johnson and Ricky Cobb. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens. Eddie Mallonee and Jerry Leggett officiating.
